Puede venir silenciosa y todavía no saber\nnosotros de que se trata. Pueden ellos hablar y nosotros no entenderlos.\nPodemos nosotros xb entenderlos y hacemos los zonsos. Podemos\necharles encima de la palabra que traen,otra, que los mande a su casa de\nnuevo: pero ya no serán los mismos que vinieron. Podemos nosotros sentir\nque en algunos rincones nuestros se están empollando otros pensamientos\nsentimientos y actos, y no saber en que nido.Y,sobre todo,y seguramente,\nse nos empollan muchas cosas que no sabemos que sentimos.\nCuando me senté a escribir este Kxkxss^s. capítulo puse el embudo\napuntando\nhacia una palabra,una pa^abra que ya había escrito,la palabra:\n•palabra. Me quedé mucho rato con el embudo quieto. Este se me llenó ense\nguida. Se me desparramó por todas partes,y sin embargo ocurrió lo que muchas\nveces:como me quedé quieto con el embudo sobre esa palabra,como no escribí\n\notras palabras y di lugar a que el embudo fuera dejando su sub^fehcia leobre\nesas otras palabras y esas otras contribuyeran y auxiliaran a l^ primera,\nvolqué todo el contenido sobre una sola, y nadie podrá darse cuenta lo\nella significa en mi historia. Lo que apenas kk atiné a observar,fue que\nesa substancia,ese me^junje vital,tenía que ver conj^is: lo que yo hacía en\nese momento,XKat aixxmat *^-^*^^ ^blex ^he jjs. tsjs. msxiExa: k mofrrc^^w y además,\nme hacía acordar, de lo que me había hecho hacer en otros momentos:en ese\nmejunje, había algo que ftmrHHrst no solo spi* me hacía detener el embudo ebl\ncuando yo hubiera querido que siguiera escribiendo,sino que frenaba su\nacción con curiosas intermitencias, con marchas y contra marchas,con la\nselección de las palabras,con el orden en que debían ser puestas y con otras\ninterferencias y preferencias que ahora no atino a explicar bien. Y todavía\n\nobservé,que el mismo mejunje me había hecho inventar lo del embudo y el\n\n�colador y las demás cosas; que el mejunje tenía flujo y reflujo con la palaora escrita por mí y las escritas por losásma demás,que todo esto era ax\nera interferido por el tiempo,que también se interferían entre sí substan\ncias del mismo mejunje,y que algunas de ellas ax que llegaban a mi concienen ese momento, me hacíanpensar que todo lo que habíaeserito antes estaba\ndemasiado bien acomodadito,ideadito,con relación a la loca realidad. Enton\nces ,sentí que la manifestación se me venía encima,o mejor dicho,que el m\nmejunje vital me inundaba,y que yo naufragaba con keí^^soc embudo colador\ny todo .\n\n¡Cómo te habrás reído,lector,cuando dije que lo que había escrito\nantes estaba demasiado bien acomodadito ] ¡Ytu. que habias pensado que era\nuna locura sin pié ni cabeza] Pues entonces te diré otra cosa,mi querido\nlector: que una de las locuras mas espantables que para mi tiene la realidad,es la de poseer hombres en que el mejunje vital les la la seguridad\nde que ese mejunje tiene rpopiedades que le hacen comprender y ordenar no\nsolo la realidad llamada exterior u objetiva,sino el propio mejunje.Yo\ncreo algo muy distinto que se puede decir con palabras muy parecidas:\nque podemos comprender e influirrialguito\" ,y que la solución que combine\nxodos los mejunjes de una manera satisfactoria para todos los mejunjes,\ntodavía no es de este mundo ,a^siHxiEE3:xHXXEatiHiEHS.Pero volvamos al\nnaufragio. Excuso decirles,que cuando fui inundado y ahogado por el lla\nmado de la palabra palabra,y sus consecuencias,perdí el conocimient^*\n\nEn los instantes antes de la áfixia,y como lo saben los que estuvie^o*^.^\npor ahogarse,repasé en forma vertiginosa todas las etapas de mi vida,\ny no mepidan que se las cuente.Cuando ya había repasado todo y llegué al\nme\n\nmomento en que precisamente la manifestación se venía encima,vi a mis\namigos\n\n,a los que defendían la palabra a pesar de saber que ésta no les\n\nnabía servido del todo, que les había traicionado ,__tal vez se traicionaron\nellos mismos-y éstos amigos habian sido sugestionados unos y salvado otros\npor la palabra del letrero. En ese triste momento,para mí,pensé: -no se ex\ntrañen que en ese momento tambié^ se pueda pensar algo:yo conocí a uno que\n\nestando en ese trance pensó: ¡Y ahora que\n\na abrir negocio propio,t _.\n\n�bueno,yo pensé: lo que ahora hubiera con ven i do, hubiera sido un ^^rrw^Tr discur\n\nso en favor de la palabra,en que no solo se dijera en él todo lo malo que\nhan hecho con ella,sino lo bueno,cuando por ella conocimos también lo mejor\nde los hombres,de su ezfuerzo,de su consuelo,de su bien,de su esperanza,de\nsu amor,de cuando ella sirvió lo mejor que pudo para estas mismas cosas y\ntantas cosas tiernas y verdaderas que pensé de ella en el gran repaso. En\ntonces quise improvisar un discurso que empezaba asi: I \" No tengo palabras\n\nconque elogiar la ...\" Xo último que me asistió fue el sentido estético de\nla palabra,comprendí que iba a hacer un juego vulgar con ella,y naufragué.\nDespués de un espacio tiempo,ignorado hasta con criterio reloj, me xa\nvolvió elconocimiento, pero éste estaba realmente desconocido,y me quedó\nasí para siempre.Sin embargo,no te ilusiones mucho,lector,porque ¿sabes\n\nlo que tenía en la mano? pues el embudo, üitonces pensé:el hombre no aflo\nja ni abajo del agua: ha de conservar su teoria,su aparato,hasta la muerte.\n\nEl dirá que su teoría es provisoria,la justificará en todas formas,pero\nserá testarudo y salvará su error ordenando sus conocimientos con lo que\npuede ser otro error.
